Pitching and submitting ideas for discussions

We encourage everyone to pitch or submit their ideas.  Different perspectives make for richer, more inclusive conversations—this is what GovCamp Cymru is all about!

Whether it’s your first pitch or your tenth, remember, this is a safe, welcoming space to share ideas. All we ask is you keep your pitch under 30 seconds.

If pitching isn’t your thing - we have alternative ways to suggest sessions.

Getting to GovCamp Cymru 2024

The event will take place at The Pierhead Building in Cardiff Bay, which is easily accessible by various forms of transport. It’s the big red-brick building with a striking clock tower.

By train

The mainline train station is Cardiff Central. There is no direct train between Cardiff Central - Cardiff Bay. To get to the Bay by train from the city centre, you need Cardiff Central > Cardiff Queen Street > Cardiff Bay.

The Cardiff Bay train from Cardiff Queen Street runs every 15 minutes and takes 4 minutes.

Bus

There is a bus from Cardiff Central to Cardiff Bay. The bus station is directly opposite the front entrance to Cardiff Central Station.

Parking

The nearest parking is at Q-Park Cardiff Bay which is approx 350 m (4 minutes walk) away from the Pierhead.

Accessibility and inclusion

We want to ensure that GovCamp Cymru is accessible to everyone:

  • the daytime venue is fully wheelchair accessible

  • a low-sensory space will be available for neurodivergent individuals and those who need a quiet area to recharge

  • a public quiet room is also available for prayer (including a washbasin and prayer mat), breastfeeding, or moments of calm in the Glanfa area on the ground floor of the Wales Millennium Centre

If you have any specific requirements to help you attend this event, please contact us in advance so we can make reasonable adaptations.

Food and drink

  • A plant-based/halal lunch will be provided for all attendees.

  • Drinks and refreshments will be available throughout the day.

  • The evening venue will offer a variety of meat (halal) and plant-based options, along with a choice of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. There will be an alcohol-free area.

Please note: The catering team cannot guarantee that foods will be nut-free, as some products are made off-site. If you have a severe nut allergy, we recommend arranging your own lunch. All food will be clearly labelled on the day.

Stuff to bring with you

You don’t have to bring anything with you. Some people bring laptops or notepads for taking notes.

We encourage you to only bring essentials and be responsible for your own belongings.
